Bomb scare causes evacuation
Middle school students relocated to high school during threat investigation
East Norriton Middle School received a bomb threat Monday morning, according to a post on the Norristown Area School District’s Facebook page from Principal Dr. Christina Spink.
The post says students were evacuated to Norristown Area High School while the building was swept by local authorities, and no device was present. The school district says it is continuing to work with police to pinpoint and investigate the origin of the hoax.
Students returned to the building around 12:30 p.m. after they are provided with lunch at Norristown Area High School, according to the Facebook post. They were dismissed at the normal time following afternoon classes.
The Facebook post says that school will resume as normal on Tuesday, Oct. 18 and the school district will continue to communicate with parents and guardians regarding the incident. East Norriton police confirmed the bomb threat was a hoax but would not release details on when the threat was received or how it was communicated citing the ongoing investigation.
