Bomb scare causes evac­u­a­tion

Mid­dle school stu­dents re­lo­cated to high school dur­ing threat in­ves­ti­ga­tion

East Norriton Mid­dle School re­ceived a bomb threat Mon­day morn­ing, ac­cord­ing to a post on the Nor­ris­town Area School District’s Face­book page from Prin­ci­pal Dr. Christina Spink.

The post says stu­dents were evac­u­ated to Nor­ris­town Area High School while the build­ing was swept by lo­cal au­thor­i­ties, and no de­vice was present. The school district says it is con­tin­u­ing to work with po­lice to pin­point and in­ves­ti­gate the ori­gin of the hoax.

Stu­dents re­turned to the build­ing around 12:30 p.m. af­ter they are pro­vided with lunch at Nor­ris­town Area High School, ac­cord­ing to the Face­book post. They were dis­missed at the nor­mal time fol­low­ing af­ter­noon classes.

The Face­book post says that school will re­sume as nor­mal on Tues­day, Oct. 18 and the school district will con­tinue to com­mu­ni­cate with par­ents and guardians re­gard­ing the in­ci­dent. East Norriton po­lice con­firmed the bomb threat was a hoax but would not re­lease de­tails on when the threat was re­ceived or how it was com­mu­ni­cated cit­ing the on­go­ing in­ves­ti­ga­tion.
