Rus­sell O. Wright passed away on Sun­day, Oc­to­ber 16, 2016, af­ter a short stay in the hos­pi­tal.

Rus­sell was pre­de­ceased by his par­ents, Nora (Fran­cis) and Granville Wright. He is sur­vived by his won­der­ful sib­lings, Fran­cis, Ruth, Doris, Eleanor, and Mary Emma and many won­der­ful neph­ews, nieces, grand-neph­ews and grand-nieces. He is sur­vived by Carol (Empie) Wright and their beloved chil­dren, Dan (Veron­ica); Brian (Nancy); and San­dra (Ar­nel) Car­roll, and his beloved and de­voted wife Halina and their beloved daugh­ters Dorota (Kevin) Wright-O’Neill and Terry. Rus­sell was es­pe­cially proud of his grand­chil­dren, Kate, Liam, Brian, Mi­ca­iah, Jes­sica, Christo­pher, Tay­lor, and David.

Rus­sell was a proud Class of 1953 grad­u­ate of West Ch­ester High School and al­ways cred­ited his high school coun­selor for chang­ing his life and en­cour­ag­ing him to ap­ply for a schol­ar­ship to col­lege. Rus­sell grad­u­ated first in his class from Drexel in 1958. He spent many years as an aero­space en­gi­neer and ex­ec­u­tive, re­tir­ing early to play the pi­ano, travel the world, and write over twenty books on top­ics as var­ied as base­ball, the stock mar­ket, and ed­u­ca­tion. “I am the mas­ter of my fate: / I am the cap­tain of my soul” are the words he lived by and by which he will be re­mem­bered.

Ser­vices will be pri­vate. A cel­e­bra­tion of life will be held in West Ch­ester in 2017.
