Thefts from vehicles under investigation
EAST CALN >> Downingtown police are investigating two thefts from vehicles that occurred in East Caln.
Police said a vehicle parked in the parking lot of Bell Tavern Park located at 105 Bell Tavern Road in East Caln was broken into sometime between 4-5 p.m. on Oct. 16. The driver’s side window had been smashed and a purse that had been left on the front passenger side floor was taken. According to the police report, the items in the purse included a driver’s license, $50 cash, a checkbook and several credit cards. wheel of her parked vehicle. Jernigan gave the appearance of being asleep, police said. Jernigan’s vehicle was not running and the keys were in her hand. When contact was made with Jernigan, police said she reportedly spoke with a slurred speech, had glassy, bloodshot eyes and a strong odor of alcohol was detected from her breath. When assisted from her vehicle, police said Jernigan reportedly was unsteady on her feet and stumbled as she walked. Jernigan was charged with public drunkenness.
• Downingtown police said Angel Melissa Bush, 23, of Coatesville, reportedly attempted to gain entrance to a home in the 100 block of Washington Avenue at 10:30 p.m. Oct. 15. When officers asked her where she thought she was, she answered Lloyd Avenue. Bush again reportedly attempted to climb back on to the porch while the officers talked to her, according to the police report. Bush was taken into custody and charged with public drunkenness.
