Thefts from ve­hi­cles un­der in­ves­ti­ga­tion

EAST CALN >> Down­ing­town po­lice are in­ves­ti­gat­ing two thefts from ve­hi­cles that oc­curred in East Caln.

Po­lice said a ve­hi­cle parked in the park­ing lot of Bell Tav­ern Park lo­cated at 105 Bell Tav­ern Road in East Caln was bro­ken into some­time be­tween 4-5 p.m. on Oct. 16. The driver’s side win­dow had been smashed and a purse that had been left on the front pas­sen­ger side floor was taken. Ac­cord­ing to the po­lice re­port, the items in the purse in­cluded a driver’s li­cense, $50 cash, a check­book and sev­eral credit cards. wheel of her parked ve­hi­cle. Jerni­gan gave the ap­pear­ance of be­ing asleep, po­lice said. Jerni­gan’s ve­hi­cle was not run­ning and the keys were in her hand. When contact was made with Jerni­gan, po­lice said she re­port­edly spoke with a slurred speech, had glassy, blood­shot eyes and a strong odor of al­co­hol was de­tected from her breath. When as­sisted from her ve­hi­cle, po­lice said Jerni­gan re­port­edly was un­steady on her feet and stum­bled as she walked. Jerni­gan was charged with pub­lic drunk­en­ness.

• Down­ing­town po­lice said An­gel Melissa Bush, 23, of Coatesville, re­port­edly at­tempted to gain en­trance to a home in the 100 block of Washington Av­enue at 10:30 p.m. Oct. 15. When of­fi­cers asked her where she thought she was, she an­swered Lloyd Av­enue. Bush again re­port­edly at­tempted to climb back on to the porch while the of­fi­cers talked to her, ac­cord­ing to the po­lice re­port. Bush was taken into cus­tody and charged with pub­lic drunk­en­ness.
