Born in Washington D.C., Charles (or Charlie, or Chuck) & living in various Maryland towns, he was in the Navy & attended University of Maryland before meeting & marring the love of his life, Marjorie Mason on February 20, 1947. They enjoyed time with their friends, their children & nieces & nephews. Charlie’s job as a purchaser for Gindy Trailer took his family to Janesville, Wisconsin in 1963 where they lived until a job with Budd Trailer brought them to Malvern, Pennsylvania. They went on many wonderful family trips. Once the 3 children were grown Charlie & Margie continued traveling with trips to London, California, Florida, Canada & their favorite, to Scotland, and they bought a vacation home in Broadkill Beach, Delaware, which his family continues to enjoy. Upon retirement they moved into a more modest house in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania there he attended Grace Crossing Community Church & was an active member, and one time Director of Phoenixville Senior Center. He enjoyed playing cards there & went several days a week. Charlie always had a firm handshake & a joke (often a bad joke) for everyone he met.
Charlie lost his beloved Margie in 2003, his time at the senior center & his friendship with Ruth Ann kept him going. He became a resident on St. Martha’s Manor in 2012 when the ravages of Dementia made it unable for him to live alone. He was lovingly cared for by the staff there until his death.
A memorial service will be held at Grace Crossing Community Church 248 Church St., Phoenixville, PA 19460 on November 19th at 11 am. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Phoenixville Senior Center, 153 Church St, Phoenixville, PA 19460.
