Bar­bara L. Mid­dlestead of West Ch­ester

Bar­bara L. Mid­dlestead, 80, of West Ch­ester, passed away on Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 2, 2016, at Neigh­bor­hood Hospice of West Ch­ester. She was the beloved wife of the late Grant K. Mid­dlestead, Sr., with whom she shared 57 years of mar­riage prior to his pass­ing in 2014.

Born in Philadel­phia, she was the daugh­ter of the late Robert Lorentz and Dorothy Smart.

Bar­bara re­ceived her bach­e­lor’s de­gree in art from Kutz­town Univer­sity. She was a mem­ber of the Gen­eral Fed­er­a­tion of Woman’s Club for 54 years and the Pres­i­dent of the New Cen­tury Club in West Ch­ester for 4 years.

She en­joyed swim­ming, boat­ing, paint­ing and crafts, read­ing, gar­den­ing and cook­ing, but most of all en­joyed spend­ing time at Lewes beach with her fam­ily.

Bar­bara is sur­vived by her chil­dren, Dr. Charles G. Mid­dlestead of Lewis­town, Grant K. Mid­dlestead, Jr. and wife, Cyn­thia, of Down­ing­town, and Su­san G. Lark and hus­band, Larry, of W. Brandy­wine Twp. She is also sur­vived by her grand­chil­dren, Jeanette (Thomas) Spag­n­uolo, Dr. Dayna Mid­dlestead, Vic­to­ria and Sa­man­tha Tew; and great-grand­chil­dren, Gabriel, Julius and Vin­cent.

A fu­neral ser­vice will be held at 11 a.m. on Mon­day, Novem­ber 7th, at Mes­siah Lutheran Church, 46 W. Lan­caster Ave., Down­ing­town, where fam­ily and friends may call from 9:45 – 10:45 a.m. In­ter­ment will be in Philadel­phia Memo­rial Park, Frazer.
