West Ch­ester po­lice nab 2 men af­ter as­sault

Po­lice have ar­rested and charged two men who al­legedly as­saulted a man out­side of a 7-Eleven.

WEST CH­ESTER >> Po­lice have ar­rested and charged two men who al­legedly as­saulted a 27-year-old man out­side a con­ve­nience store in Oc­to­ber.

Eug­inio Orti Perez-Bard, 28, of Not­ting­ham, and Geovoni Cruz, 23, of Lin­coln Univer­sity, were both ar­raigned be­fore Mag­is­te­rial District Judge Mark A. Bruno, and each was re­leased on $50,000 un­se­cured bail.

Both have a pre­lim­i­nary hear­ing set be­fore Bruno at 9 a.m. Nov. 22.

A 27-year-old man was trans­ported to Paoli Hos­pi­tal and placed in crit­i­cal con­di­tion af­ter be­ing as­saulted out­side of the 7-Eleven on South High Street in West Ch­ester at about 2:30 a.m. Oct. 9, po­lice said. There was no up­date Mon­day about the vic­tim’s cur­rent med­i­cal sta­tus.

Po­lice said the vic­tim suf­fered fa­cial frac­tures, a skull frac­ture and brain trauma.

Ac­cord­ing to po­lice, sur­veil­lance video showed the male vic­tim leav­ing the store and im­me­di­ately be­ing at­tacked by two men. Af­ter in­ter­view­ing a woman who knows one of the sus­pects, they were iden­ti­fied as Cruz and Perez-Bard.

In af­fi­davits filed at Bruno’s court, po­lice wrote that both men re­port­edly “punched and kicked (the vic­tim) nu­mer­ous times” on his head and body.

Both are charged with ag­gra­vated as­sault, sim­ple as­sault, reck­lessly en­dan­ger­ing an­other per­son, and con­spir­acy.

Po­lice were not avail­able for ad­di­tional com­ment Mon­day.
