Woman crit­i­cally in­jured in city hit-run

Cyn­thia McNeil was re­turn­ing home from work when she was struck in the area of Ninth and Bar­clay streets, ac­cord­ing to a pre­pared re­lease is­sued by city Po­lice Capt. Anita Amaro.

Ch­ester po­lice were dis­patched to the 200 block of West Ninth Street for a pedes­trian struck by a ve­hi­cle at 8:15 p.m. Satur­day. Ar­riv­ing of­fi­cers found the woman ly­ing in the street. The vic­tim was taken by am­bu­lance to Crozer-Ch­ester Med­i­cal Cen­ter.

A wit­ness told of­fi­cers that the strik­ing ve­hi­cle stopped at the corner of Ninth and Bar­clay. A woman ex­ited and fran­ti­cally screamed be­fore get­ting back into the car and speed­ing off, the re­lease states.

The ve­hi­cle be­ing sought by po­lice should have heavy front-end dam­age to the driver’s side of the ve­hi­cle, the re­lease states. The make and model of the strik­ing ve­hi­cle are un­known.
