Doris J. Swaim of Sads­bury Town­ship

Doris J. Swaim, 73, of Sads­bury Twp., went home to be with the Lord on Wed­nes­day, Novem­ber 16, 2016 at her home. She was the beloved wife of Reitzel Swaim, Jr., with whom she shared 53 years of mar­riage.

Born in Martins­burg, WV, she was the daugh­ter of the late Ruth A. (Van-Why) and Del­bert Hut­zler. She lived in Chris­tiana and the Coatesville area most of her life. Doris grad­u­ated from Oc­torara High School and also from the Lan­caster Gen­eral Hos­pi­tal School of Nurs­ing as a Reg­is­tered Nurse in 1963.

She re­tired from the Fam­ily Re­source and Coun­sel­ing Cen­ter, and prior to that had sev­eral jobs as an RN.

She was a mem­ber of Cen­tral Baptist Church of Pomeroy.

Doris en­joyed teach­ing Sunday School, served as Church Sec­re­tary and Clerk, sang in the Choir, par­tic­i­pated in Women’s Fel­low­ship, worked on OAHS Re­union Com­mit­tee and was a Board of Di­rec­tors Chair at FRCC.

Doris is sur­vived, in ad­di­tion to her hus­band, by her two daugh­ters, C. Elise Shep­ard of Coatesville, and Stephanie A. Jones, wife of Don­ald, of Parkes­burg; five grand­chil­dren, Michael, Han­nah, Emma and Ruth Shep­ard and Lisa Jones and two sib­lings, Richard W. Hut­zler of Wil­low Street and Gail A. Lewis of Nar­von. Doris was pre­de­ceased by her son, Michael Lee Swaim.

The Fu­neral Ser­vice will be held on Tues­day, Novem­ber 22, 2016 at 11:00am at the Tel Hai Chapel, 1200 Tel Hai Cir­cle, Honey Brook, PA, fol­lowed by in­ter­ment at Up­per Oc­torara Ceme­tery. The view­ing will be held at the Chapel from 10 to 11:00am. In lieu of flow­ers, me­mo­rial do­na­tions may be made in her mem­ory to the Parkes­burg Point Youth Cen­ter, PO Box 731, Parkes­burg, PA 19365.
