Ira R. Clavier Sr. of Coatesville

Ira R. Clavier, Sr., age 89, passed away peace­fully on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016 at Tel Hai retirement com­mu­nity.

Ira was the hus­band of the late Eileen Boyd Clavier. He was born in Guthrieville to the late Her­bert and Min­erva Clavier. Ira grad­u­ated from Down­ing­town High School and worked in his fa­ther’s gro­cery store in Coatesville. Later, Ira went on to re­tire from the Coatesville post of­fice in 1985. He also worked at Zaus­ner Food Corp. in New Holland, PA.

Ira served in the Navy dur­ing World War ll on the USS Fecth­ler, DD870.

Ira is sur­vived by his two sons, Chip Clavier and his wife Molly of Coatesville and Eric Clavier and his wife Linda of New Holland, three Grand­chil­dren Ryan Clavier, Jen­nifer DeSil­ver and Brian Clavier as well as two Great Grand­chil­dren, Hunter and Evan DeSil­ver. He is also sur­vived by his brother Walt Clavier and wife Janet and his sis­ter Marian Redlin, all of Delaware.

Ira will be buried at Ge­orge­town Ceme­tery. In keep­ing with Ira’s wishes, there will be no ser­vices.
