William A. “Bill” Grier of Downingtown
William A. “Bill” Grier, 52, of Downingtown, passed away on Friday, November 25, 2016 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. His journey complete after a long, courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was the beloved husband of Joanne C. (Johnson) Grier, with whom he shared 32 year of marriage.
Born in Glenmoore, Bill was the son of William N.H. and Shirley (Evans) Grier of Glenmoore.
He was a 1982 graduate of Downingtown High School and received his Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Rosemont College.
Bill was employed with Main Line Health, serving as the Assistant Controller for the past 24 years.
Bill was a member of St. Joseph Church in Downingtown. He was a 4th degree Knight and a member of the William J. Fennerty Council 7208.
Bill enjoyed coaching his children, originally with WBYA and more recently since 2012, for his daughter’s travel softball team - SCC SWAT.
Bill loved spending time with his family and friends, from trout fishing in the Brandywine to vacationing in the Outer Banks to grilling in the summer.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Grier is survived by children, Dr. William R. and his wife, Maureen, Kevin T., Matthew R., and Julie Anne Grier; and sister, Tracy Lynn Bair wife of Tim.
An evening visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Monday, November 28th at the James J. Terry Funeral Home, 736 E. Lancaster Ave., Downingtown.
His Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, November 29th at St. Joseph Church, 338 Manor Ave., Downingtown, where family and friends may call from 9:30 to 10:45 am.
Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Downingtown.
