Overton gets first win at Lincoln
Vernon Young’s threepoint basket with 2:18 left put Lincoln ahead for good en route to a 59-54 victory over the University of the Sciences in a nonleague men’s college basketball game Tuesday.
The win was the first for head coach and former La Salle Doug Overton.
Youmg led the Lions (1-6) Vernon Young led the Lions with 16 points, while Joshua Davis and Jordan Watson added 15 and 11 points respectively.
Will Gregorits led Sciences with 22 points.
BLOOMFIELD 97, WEST CHESTER 86 >> Malik Jackson) scored 24 points, but it was not enough as host Bloomfield defeated visiting West Chester. West Chester (3-3) shot just 38 percent from the field as the Golden Rams saw their three-game winning streak halted. Meanwhile, Bloomfield (3-4) shot 49 percent from the floor to end its three-game slide. Jackson was the only Golden Rams player in double figures. Dashon Giddings, Thomas White and Mike Jolaoso had nine points each.
