Patricia Antley of West Chester

Daily Local News (West Chester, PA) - - OBITUARIES -

Patricia Antley, 81, died Wed. Nov. 16, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her four beloved children.

She was born April 2, 1935 in New York City, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Shaughnessy and the late Florence Murphy Shaughnessy.

Patricia received her BA in French from Marymount College and her Diplome D’Etudes from Universite de Paris (La Sorbonne) in 1956.

Patricia re-joined the workforce after her children started school and held a variety of positions, but her fondest memories are of when she owned and operated Chambers Restaurant on Gay Street from 1991 through 1996 with her son Joseph. It was through Chambers that she made many friends and became so connected to her West Chester community.

Patricia had a unique combination of intelligence, humor and infinite kindness. She was truly interested in everyone, and so many people found a friend in her because of her generosity of spirit, her wisdom and practical counsel. She taught her children many things; but the greatest of these were compassion and forgiveness. Patricia had a love for all creatures, great and small, and passed that love along to her children.

Patricia is survived by her four children, Brian Antley of Hermosa Beach, CA, Jane Antley of West Chester, Joseph Antley of Glen Gardner, NJ, and Liza Antley of West Chester. She is also survived by her former husband, Joel Antley of Scottsdale, AZ, five grandchildren and her beloved cat, Marshall.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Kendall.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to all of the doctors, nurses and aides who took care of her, expertly and compassionately, over the years, but especially to Dr. Karen Squire, Dr. George Limpert, Dr. Charles Catania, Dr. Joseph Lewis and the wonderful staff of Willow Tree Hospice.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on December 12, 2016 at 10:30AM, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30AM at St. Agnes Church, 233 W. Gay St., West Chester, PA 19380. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in in her memory to St. Agnes Church at the above address and/or Brandywine Valley SPCA, 1212 Phoenixville Pike, West Chester, PA 19382.
