Dickson cruises into Ches-Mont semis

Downingtow­n East’s Michael Dickson rolled into the ChesMont League National Division singles semifinals with a bye and two easy wins Thursday. He’ll be back at it Friday morning in the semis and likely the final.

Three-time defending champion Michael Dickson of Downingtow­n East waltzed into the semifinals of the Ches-Mont League National Division Boys Tennis Singles Championsh­ip at West Chester Henderson on Thursday.

Dickson, the top seed, received a first-round bye, then thumped East teammate Luc DeCecco, 6-0, 6-0. He returned in the quarterfin­als to sweep Peter Sinnott of Henderson, 6-0, 6-0.

Dickson will face thirdseede­d Justin Aksu of West Chester East in the semifinals Friday. Aksu knocked off Ryan Conners of Bishop Shanahan in the quarterfi- nals.

On the other half of the draw, fourth-seeded Jason Listmeier of Downingtow­n East will take on No. 2 Brett Graybill of Downingtow­n West.

The semifinals will get underway today at 2 p.m. with the finals and consolatio­n to follow. The top three will advance to the District 1 tournament. The Blue Demons lost just three games in total as they swept the Ches-Mont American match. Noah Rasero and David Geller won 6-0, 6-0 at first doubles.

Annina Iacobucci recorded five goals and Sarah Delaney had three as the Hurricanes (8- 0, 8-1) held on for the AACA win.

Liz Scott collected four goals, while Dana Cic- chitti and Scottie Growney added thre goals each as the Pioneers (10-1) notched the Central League victory.

Joey Borky and Jake Smith notched a hat trick apiece as the Red Devils (5-0) stayed unbeaten in the Ches-Mont League.

Shea Dougherty tallied three times for the Whippets.

Zach Lawrence had five goals and an assist as the Indians rolled to the ChesMont win. Jack Hoopman had three goals and two assists. Will Ciccarelli added three goals, Joe Fariello and John Quillman contribute­d two goals each. Garett Rogers, Gerry Ulatowski, Andrew Bowers and Mark Raffety added one goal each.

Dustin Simmler and Mike Burke recorded hat tricks as the Golden Knights collected the Ches-Mont victory.

SUN VALLEY 8 » The Whippets (8-2) scored six times in the bottom of the seventh inning to rally for the Ches-Mont win. Mike Mollenhaue­r was 3-for-3 with two RBI. Eric Grintz had four hits and an RBI. Nick Campana and JJ Freeman drove in single runs in the seventh.

Jillian Kostenbaud­er allowed six hits and had seven strikeouts for the complete-game victory as the Pioneers (3-3, 3-3) grabbed the Central League contest. Katie Mayock had two hits and an RBI and Katie Sturgeon drove in a pair of runs. Ella Vetter doubled, went 3-for-3 and drove in two to help power the Red Raiders (10-1, 10-1) to the ChesMont victory. Maggie Kane homered and had four RBI. Melina Minniti pitched 2 2/3 innings of relief for the win.

Lexi Wright recorded the lone hit for the Golden Knights (3-8).

BRANDYWINE VALLEY SLOWPITCH » Avante Hair Salon scored four runs in the eight torally for an 9-8 win over Ron Porter’s Browns. Don Vivian was the winning pitcher, while Sonny Luminello turned in a stellar defensive performanc­e at third base. John Herr, Larry Riggs, Ken Ross and Mike Shone had three hits each as Life Smoke Vapor. com went to 2-0 following an 18- win over United Sports. Steve Berk, Jack Freehoff and Chris Scalfani homered. Bob Ford had four hits and Zello Davis homered for United Sports.
