Authorities say a Reading man pointed a shotgun at a relative’s head and briefly held a standoff with police Saturday. No one was injured.

Exeter Township Police responded to a report a domestic situation along the first 100 block of Bordic Road where the suspect, later identified as 32-year-old Nathan Gove, of Reading, had a gun, according to police.

Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect had pointed a 12-gauge shotgun at a relative and threatened to shoot her in the head. Gove reportedly retreated to the inside of the trailer, police said. Police surrounded the home and ordered Gove to come outside. Gove eventually surrendered to police and was taken into custody without incident, police said.

The shotgun and shotgun shells were recovered. Gove was transferred to the custody of the Berks County Sheriff’s Department, police said.

He faces two felony charges of aggravated assault as well as simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime with intent, reckless endangerment, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and harassment, according to court records.

Gove was arraigned Saturday night and transferred to Berks County Prison after he could not post the $75,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 14 at 1:30 p.m. before District Judge Sandra L. Fegley.

Bordic Road is a small street inside a trailer park off Lincoln Road, across from the WalMart.
