Local boy, 8, named ‘police chief’ for a day

WILLISTOWN» Willistown Township Police Department hosted eight-yearold Asher Callan as their “Chief” for a Day on June 6. He was awarded the position through an auction at the Spring Fair benefiting the General Wayne Elementary School PTO. Callan met with Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan and was presented with an official pin.

After he was sworn in by District Magistrate Tom Tartaglio, “Chief” Callan assisted Chief John Narcise with conducting a staff meeting to start the day. From there, he accompanie­d the officers on their routine walkthroug­hs at Sugartown and General Wayne Elementary Schools an d learned about the daily operations of a police department.

At the end of the day, Callan left Willistown Police with several mementos and a good understand­ing of the importance of police work. The officer s and staff enjoying having him with them for the day. Willistown Police plan on doing this for similar events with both elementary schools next year.
