Brenda K. Miller Ha­gen, age 66, of At­glen, PA, peace­fully passed away on Fri­day, Septem­ber 15, 2017 at Jef­fer­son Univer­sity Hospi­tal in Philadel­phia, sur­rounded by her lov­ing fam­ily. She was the wife of Sa­muel G. Ha­gen. Born in Coatesville, she was the daugh­ter of the late Ira G. and Doris J. Coates Miller. Brenda was an ac­tive mem­ber of the Faith Com­mu­nity United Methodist Church in At­glen where she en­joyed be­ing the choir and can­tata di­rec­tor, Sun­day School teacher, youth leader, and min­istry speaker. She had a spe­cial place in her heart for chil­dren and teach­ing them about the love of God. Brenda was a proud grad­u­ate of Oc­torara High School, Class of 1968, and loved keep­ing in close touch with many of her dear high school friends. She worked for Dr. Ni­cholas Wen­grin of Honey Brook for over 25 years and Dr. Ge­orge Stuppy at At­glen Fam­ily Den­tistry, and was blessed with many life­long friend­ships through her work. Brenda loved and adored her fam­ily, and just spend­ing time to­gether laugh­ing, play­ing games (she was an ag­gres­sive Scrab­ble player), and mak­ing beau­ti­ful fam­ily me­mories. She loved spoil­ing her grand­kids! Brenda trea­sured the time she got to spend with her beau­ti­ful friends. Brenda was full of hu­mor and light, and she loved to laugh. She en­joyed sit­ting on the deck in the gor­geous sun­shine with a cup of cof­fee, read­ing her de­vo­tion­als, and watch­ing the all the birds that came to her feed­ers. Brenda is lov­ingly sur­vived by her 2 chil­dren: Rana L. wife of Dustin R. Lun­stra of At­glen, Travis S. Townsend hus­band of Feli­cia Szo­rad of Lex­ing­ton, KY, 3 step-chil­dren: Jeff Ha­gen of Walling­ford, PA, Steven Ha­gen hus­band of Clau­dia of Ken­nett Square, Larry Ha­gen of Clay­mont, DE, 7 grand­chil­dren: Bran­don, Brynne, Keaton, Josella, Eve­lyn, Tay­lor, Court­ney, 3 step-grand­chil­dren: Grant, Caro­line, Lu­cas, and 3 sib­lings: Lester I. “Gus” hus­band of Patricia Fo­ley Miller of Lan­caster, Jef­frey D. hus­band of Kay Gib­son Miller of Chris­tiana, and Craig J. Miller of Coatesville, and many nieces and neph­ews whom she dearly loved. Fu­neral ser­vice will take place on Wed­nes­day, Septem­ber 20, at the Faith Com­mu­nity United Methodist Church, 332 Ch­ester Street, At­glen, at 11 a.m. with Pas­tor Mark Bei­de­man of­fi­ci­at­ing. In­ter­ment will be in the Glen Run ceme­tery. There will be a view­ing at the Shivery Fu­neral Home, 111 El­iz­a­beth Street, Chris­tiana on Tues­day from 6 to 8 p.m. and again at the church on Wed­nes­day from 10 a.m. un­til time of ser­vice. In lieu of flow­ers, con­tri­bu­tions may be made in Brenda’s Mem­ory to the church at FCUMC, 332 Ch­ester Street, At­glen, PA 19310.
