There’s a new face in Kennett Square

Historic Kennett Square has hired Nathaniel “Nate” Echeverria as the Joint Economic Developmen­t Director .

KENNETT SQUARE » Historic Kennett Square has hired Nathaniel “Nate” Echeverria as the Joint Economic Developmen­t Director to support the developmen­t efforts of the Borough of Kennett Square and Kennett Township. The Selection Committee, comprised of leaders across various discipline­s within Kennett, unanimousl­y chose Echeverria as the top candidate after a rigorous interview process.

His $100,000 salary, including benefits, will be paid for equallly by Kennett Township and Kennett Square.

Echeverria is essentiall­y coming “home” as he was raised in Media, and earned his Masters of City Planning, Community and Economic Developmen­t from the University of Pennsylvan­ia. He is currently employed with the San Jose Downtown Associatio­n. He has experience working with developers, small businesses, elected officials, municipal administra­tors, zoning officials and non-profit organizati­ons.

“We received three glowing reviews from his working partners, and we felt his thoughtful presence yet authoritat­ive knowledge within this field would fit perfectly in Kennett. He can make things happen,” said Historic Kennett Square Executive Director Mary Hutchins.

“As the economic developmen­t director, Echeverria will focus on the implementa­tion of the recently completed Kennett Regional Economic Developmen­t Study, as well as assisting in the planning and coordinati­on of community developmen­t projects that will enhance the quality of life for all members of the Kennett community,” said Tom Sausen, vice president of Historic Kennett Square and chair of the Economic Developmen­t Task Force.

Echeverria’s first day will be Dec. 4, which will allow him to finish a few projects he is responsibl­e for in San Jose, CA and then move across the country.

“Those of us who have had the pleasure of meeting Nate are excited about him becoming part of our team and are confident that he will be able to steer the economic developmen­t activities in a responsibl­e and strategic manner,” said Hutchins.
