There’s a new face in Kennett Square
Historic Kennett Square has hired Nathaniel “Nate” Echeverria as the Joint Economic Development Director .
KENNETT SQUARE » Historic Kennett Square has hired Nathaniel “Nate” Echeverria as the Joint Economic Development Director to support the development efforts of the Borough of Kennett Square and Kennett Township. The Selection Committee, comprised of leaders across various disciplines within Kennett, unanimously chose Echeverria as the top candidate after a rigorous interview process.
His $100,000 salary, including benefits, will be paid for equallly by Kennett Township and Kennett Square.
Echeverria is essentially coming “home” as he was raised in Media, and earned his Masters of City Planning, Community and Economic Development from the University of Pennsylvania. He is currently employed with the San Jose Downtown Association. He has experience working with developers, small businesses, elected officials, municipal administrators, zoning officials and non-profit organizations.
“We received three glowing reviews from his working partners, and we felt his thoughtful presence yet authoritative knowledge within this field would fit perfectly in Kennett. He can make things happen,” said Historic Kennett Square Executive Director Mary Hutchins.
“As the economic development director, Echeverria will focus on the implementation of the recently completed Kennett Regional Economic Development Study, as well as assisting in the planning and coordination of community development projects that will enhance the quality of life for all members of the Kennett community,” said Tom Sausen, vice president of Historic Kennett Square and chair of the Economic Development Task Force.
Echeverria’s first day will be Dec. 4, which will allow him to finish a few projects he is responsible for in San Jose, CA and then move across the country.
“Those of us who have had the pleasure of meeting Nate are excited about him becoming part of our team and are confident that he will be able to steer the economic development activities in a responsible and strategic manner,” said Hutchins.
