Cozzone to youth: Farms important
Kathi Cozzone visited West Chester Area Daycare Center yesterday to talk about the importance of farms.
WEST CHESTER » As part of National Ag Literacy Week, March 12 to 23, Chester County Commissioner Kathi Cozzone visited West Chester Area Daycare Center yesterday to talk to kindergarteners about the important role farms play in our daily lives.
“Agriculture provides almost everything we eat, use and wear,” said Cozzone. “It’s Chester County’s number one industry and I’m delighted to have the opportunity to help children in our community learn more about where our food comes from. My fellow Commissioners and I appreciate all of the farmers and agriculture professionals in Chester County who work hard to provide it for us.”
Cozzone read “Tyler Makes Pancakes,” a book by TV celebrity chef, Tyler Florence that explores how common ingredients begin on the farm and end up on our plate. The book was chosen by Pennsylvania Farm Bureau’s Friends of Agriculture Foundation and distributed to volunteer classroom readers all over the state to increase student knowledge about the importance of agriculture.
