Edward “Ed” Wilson
Edward “Ed” Wilson passed away on the 17th of August in Seminole, FL. Born in Glen Mill, PA on February 6th, 1930. He attended West Chester area schools in Chester County PA. He and seventeen other boys from Chester County joined the service during the Korean War. He served on the USS MIDWAY (CVA41) Aircraft Carrier as an aerial photographer. After the service, Ed was employed by the Daily Local News as their first News Photographer and Photo Engraver. After many, many years of service with the Daily Local News, he left to open a restaurant called the Farmer in the Dell, that became a very popular eating place in Chester County, PA.
He is preceded in death by his first wife of 17 years, Betty Jane Simmons of Marshalton, PA. In 1986 he married Marian P. Lex of Wilmington, DE. They moved to Indian Rocks Beach, FL where they owned and operated the Villa St. Tropez condominium complex for 12 years, then retired and moved to Seminole, FL. On January 27, 2007, after 21 years of marriage, Marian passed away. Also preceded in death were his brothers William, James, Jack, Charles and sisters Margaret Groth, Mary Guillo, Catherine Butler and Edna Wilson.
Ed is survived by his two sons, William Scott & wife Kim of Boothwyn, PA and Christopher B & Madalyn Summa of Aston, PA., Grandson, Blake E. Wilson and Step Daughters in law Suzanne K Lex Findley, with husband Russell and grandson Jarod of Tallahassee, FL and Helju Maria Lex of Leonia, NJ.
Memorial Celebration will be held at the Concordville Inn in Glen Mills, PA on Saturday, September 22nd from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
