Malvern rolls in In­ter-Ac opener

PHILADEL­PHIA >> Se­nior run­ning back Quincy Wat­son scored three touch­downs and ran for 106 yards in 16 car­ries to lead Malvern Prep to a 51-17 win Fri­day against host Penn Char­ter in its In­ter-Ac opener.

The 5-foot-9, 185-pounder scored on touch­down runs of 14, 14, and 17 yards for Malvern (7-0). In three games (as a fifth-year se­nior, he can­not ap­pear in games against PIAA op­po­nents), Wat­son has car­ried for 293 yards in 56 car­ries, av­er­ag­ing more than five yards per carry.

The Fri­ars net­ted 261 rush­ing yards on 27 at­tempts against Penn Char­ter (4-2).

Malvern took a 20-0 lead late in the first quar­ter when D’An­gelo Stocker blocked a punt and ran 17 yards for a touch­down.

Malvern quar­ter­back Drew Gun­ther com­pleted 9 of 13 throws for 207 yards and two touch­downs in the first half. Wide­outs Lon­nie White and Tyler Tin­son scored on TD re­cep­tions of 55 and 42 yards, re­spec­tively.
