Mary Lois Blotzer
On Saturday, January 9, 2021, Mary “Lois” Blotzer, loving wife and devoted mother, went to be with the Lord peacefully with her family by her side at the age of 88.
Lois was born on September 8, 1932 in Turtle Creek, PA to Harry and Ruth Lippert. She was an elementary school teacher in Hampton, Virginia before retiring in 1978. On September 17, 1948, she married Don Edward Blotzer, an Air Force Veteran of 20 years. Affectionately known as “Don and Lois,” they raised one son, Mark, and two daughters, Olympia and Michelle.
Lois had a passion for playing cards, bowling, soap operas, and spending time with family and friends at the campground in their RV. Being an avid sports fan, she loved to cheer on everything Pittsburgh, particularly the Steelers, the Penguins, and the Pirates. She was known for her quick wit, her infectious smile, and her kind and compassionate spirit.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Don. She is survived by her three children, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Welcome Home Care Agency and Association for Home and Hospice Care of NC for their loving and tender care, especially Valerie, Dawn, Amy and Maggie. A viewing will be held on Friday, January 15th, 2021 at R Hayden Smith Funeral Home located on Armistead Avenue between 10 and 11 o'clock a.m. A graveside service will follow at Hampton Memorial Gardens where she will be buried next to Don.
