Race 7

CHATI’S ON TOP found Grade 1 waters too deep last time. She’s been freshened, takes a considerable drop and is proven down the hill. SMOOVE IT was super sharp for a while, sharp enough to earn a Grade 1 shot last year but that didn’t go well, then came a layoff and a so-so return at Del Mar Aug. 16. She’s been freshened again and that plus returning to the hill may get her back on track. VELVET MESQUITE once owned the hill and while she’s not that gal any longer there’s still plenty of gas in the tank. HEAVENS STAIRWAY can sizzle and may be the primary speed and she loves the hill (5 for 9). (4)

Race 8

W. GILES just beat some of these in a similar race here Jan. 3. He again looks like the main speed and he’s shown when he can dictate things up front he can be scary. ONE MORE ROLL got closest to W. GILES when second in that Jan. 3 race and may be poised to turn the tables. (2)

Race 9

ALERT BAY was good enough to win a Grade 2 here a few months ago and comes off an unlucky sixth down the hill here Dec. 26. This longer trip and the drop help. G. G. RYDER has been the second best horse in NoCal the past year (to ALERT BAY) and with his tactical speed and versatility figures a threat from the get-go. WHAT A VIEW looked super blasting lesser here Dec. 26. He’s been at his best here (2 for 2). POSHSKY found Grade 2 foes a bit too much to handle here last time. This is a better spot. (4)

Race 10

READY TO HULA LULA has worked strongly to indicate she has talent, and hails from a strong jockey/trainer combo. DESPERATE CHICK ran splendidly to be second in her debut. DANCING SUNSET was a sharp second two races ago and a return to that form makes her a threat. WHO SAID LUCKY comes off a couple nice seconds at Los Alamitos and has worked well since. (4)

THE PLAY: 3,4, 5, 7 with 1, 6 with 2,5, 7, 10 with 4,7, 8, 10 x $.50 = $64
