Pollution crisis in India’s capital
The government in India’s capital of New Delhi this week introduced a series of citywide emergency measures to deal with heavy air pollution. The city banned trucks from entering the capital, temporarily suspended all civil construction projects, and on Wednesday closed all schools. Airquality readings in India’s capital have soared since Tuesday, with one monitor showing levels of particulate matter in the city at 969. The World Health Organization considers anything above 25 to be unsafe.
