The U.S. government plans to spend $20 million to help Mexico deport thousands of migrants who have entered the country hoping to reach the United States. According to a notification that State Department officials sent to Congress, the money would be used to cover the cost of bus and plane tickets to deport up to 17,000 migrants from Mexico to their countries of origin. “This one-time infusion of assistance will help the [government of Mexico] address, and potentially deter, irregular migrant flows,” the notification said.

Cuomo easily beats Nixon in N.Y. primary

New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo moved closer to a third term on Thursday, beating actress Cynthia Nixon by 30 percentage points in the primary election for the Democratic Party’s nomination for governor. Nixon was a first-time candidate who branded herself as a more liberal candidate than Cuomo. The governor has pledged to serve his entire term through 2022 and not run for president in 2020.
