State police: 3 hurt when shots fired
Three people were injured by gunfire early Saturday morning in an incident that shut down Interstate 57 in Markham much of the early part of the day, according to the Illinois State Police.
The shooting occurred at 2:54 a.m. on I-57 southbound between Kedzie Avenue and 159th Street, police said.
A vehicle with four occupants was struck by gunfire, and one woman and two men were wounded. A fourth man was uninjured, police said, adding that the injured occupants were taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
All southbound lanes were closed for several hours. Police are asking anyone with information to call 847-294-4400. Callers can remain anonymous, police said.
