Solutions to gun issues

- Ralph Koechert, Upper Chichester

Doesn’t sound nice but get real ... government buildings, various venues for meetings, concerts and sporting events have metal detectors and armed security, why not the schools? Teachers carrying firearms sounds iffy. Will they shoot when necessary? Will they shoot accurately? Thousands of retired police, FBI agents, Secret Service officers, and military who have been trained and have faced fire are available. They know when and how to shoot! Why not. If it’s good enough for elected officials, Hollywood stars and business giants, why not for our children? Remember the phrase “when seconds count, help is only minutes away?” How much time does it take to kill dozens ... not much.

Better health care reporting is essential! When people are considered dangerous or unstable they should be evaluated and found to be one of the above treat them and enter them in background data base. Now, not later.

Probably the most important part is the observations by parents, friends, school mates, coworkers – and reporting to officials. We really need to out for each other and take responsible action.

There is a lot we can do but we must take action and do it now!! No more of our children should be slaughtered or fear for their lives in school or anywhere else. So lawmakers at all levels need to stand up and be counted and proactive.
