SPRINGFIELD >> Pat House is a funny guy. On Nov. 13 and 14, the Delaware County comic will be headlining again at Helium Comedy Club in Center City, making the audience laugh, while recording his second comedy album.

“Helium is my ‘home club.’ It’s the club where I worked the most frequently and where I really cut my teeth, learning how to be a comic,” House remarked this week.

Helium is also where House recorded his first album, “Biggest Thing,” back in 2013.

House, 34, is rooted in Delco, a place where he has gathered a boatload of funny material over the years to use in his comedy routines.

According to the Helium Comedy Club website, “For Pat, every day life seems to be a great source of material. Spending years bartending and interacting with strangers, he was constantly intrigued, amazed and extremely annoyed at the ridiculous things people say and do in public. With matter-of-fact delivery and sharp observations, Pat’s material is relatable to anyone tortured by the absurdity of others.”

The Springfield resident attended St. Kevin Elementary School and Cardinal O’Hara High School. Although he was always a fan of good laughs and standup comedy, it wasn’t until attending Temple University after high school, that the comedy bug hit him hard.

“After seeing some comics perform on campus at Temple, I knew I had to try it,” House shared. “So I started going to openmic nights around the city during my sophomore year. During classes, I would jot down ideas in a notebook to use in my act.” The rest is history.

House has now been doing stand-up comedy, getting rave reviews, for fourteen years. In addition to performing at Philadelphia comedy clubs, House’s talent also takes him on the road. In just the past month, House played the comedy circuit in Seattle, Washington, Buffalo, New York, Grand Rapids, Michigan and St. Louis, Missouri. In December, it’s on to Spokane, Washington. House has performed as a choice opener for Sebastian Maniscalco, Tom Segura and Dan Cummins, as well as Dave Attell, Greg Giraldo, Patrice O’Neal, Jim Breuer and Susie Essman.

“Sebastian Maniscalco used me as his opener for years,” House stated. “Because of him, I’ve had the opportunity to perform at The Tower in Upper Darby and more than a dozen shows in the Event Center at The Borgata as well as the biggest shows I’ve ever done— at The Grand Ballroom at Foxwoods Casino in front of 4,500 people. I’ve also performed at The Electric Factory and The Trocadero.”

The comic is also a frequent guest on the 93.3 WMMR Preston and Steve Show, the 102.9 WMGK John DeBella Show, and The Q Show on FOX.

“All of them have been great to me over the years,” House remarked about the media outlets.

“I love to be on the road, but I also love returning to Delco,” House remarked.

While back in Delco, the comedian can often be found tending bar, keeping the customers laughing, and sometimes unexpectedly gathering new material, at Paxon Hollow Golf Club in Broomall. Every year, House performs a big annual show at Paxon Hollow. He has also performed quarterly shows at Maggie O’Neill’s Irish Pub, and fundraisers to benefit Wounded Warriors, Philabundance and the Susan G. Komen.

“I really hope to pack the place,” House said of his upcoming Helium appearance and album recording event. “I hope to see a lot of my Delco friends in the crowd,” House said, “But I would also love to see lots of new faces there too!”
