Huffy Corp. got its start in the Dayton area 125 years ago.
■ 1892: Davis Sewing Machine Company produced its first bicycle.
■ 1924: The company, which had shifted its focus to bicycles, started calling them “Huffman bicycles” and was operating as Huffman Manufacturing Co.
■ 1942: Huffy created 4,000 military bikes for troops in World War II.
■ 1949: Huffy introduced training wheels.
■ 1979: The business’ 30 millionth bike made it into the Smithsonian.
