Boy, 7, removed from unsanitary home

Middletown police removed a 7-year-old boy from his residence because of unsanitary conditions, sleeping arrangements, nutrition concerns and a lack of a refrigerator and stove, according to a police report.

Police responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Yankee Road on Monday morning after they received an anonymous complaint there was no refrigerator, hot water or food in the home, the report said. The boy told police he ate pizza on Sunday, applesauce on Saturday and he hadn’t taken a bath in two weeks. He had attended school, he told police.

Police located the boy’s aunt, and he was placed with her. Police contacted the boy’s mother in jail to let her know of the removal.
