Dayton Daily News - - LOCALFOCUS - STAFF REPORT

“Wade in the Water,” an original oratorical performance with music and dance, will take place at 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Luke Missionary Baptist Church, 2262 N. Gettysburg Ave., as part of St. Luke’s observance of Black History Month. The production will include performances by the church’s praise dance ministry and music ministry. Admission is free.

Julia Capers, author of the performance, said, “The presentation, ‘Wade in the Water’ tells the story: by readings, music, dance and images, of how slaves communicated secret code messages in the songs they sang as they escaped slavery by the Underground Railroad.”
