Po­lice: Woman’s face bit­ten on drug run


A Spring­field man is ac­cused of mul­ti­ple charges af­ter po­lice said he bit a woman on her face be­cause she wouldn’t buy drugs, ac­cord­ing to a po­lice re­port.

An­to­nio Lef­fel, 38, pleaded not guilty to do­mes­tic vi­o­lence and as­sault charges on Feb. 9 in Clark County Mu­nic­i­pal Court. Bond was set at $2,000.

Po­lice were sent to Madi­son Av­enue and Olive Street af­ter re­ceiv­ing mul­ti­ple calls about a man and woman yelling and scream­ing at each other in the street, ac­cord­ing to the re­port.

As they ar­rived on scene, of­fi­cers said they saw Lef­fel hold­ing a woman’s arms to keep her from leav­ing. The man and woman were driv­ing in the area to buy drugs, but Lef­fel be­came up­set when she told him she didn’t have any money and he be­gan hit­ting her, the vic­tim told po­lice.

Lef­fel later caught the woman on foot and tack­led her, ac­cord­ing to the re­port. As she strug­gled to get away, the re­port in­di­cated, she hit Lef­fel and he bit her in the face.

The woman suf­fered cuts on her face and grab marks on her arms, ac­cord­ing to the re­port. She was taken to Spring­field Re­gional Med­i­cal Cen­ter.
