Boyfriend charged in woman’s slaying

A Marion man has been arrested and charged in the death of his girlfriend.

Mitchell Rankin, 35, was arrested Saturday for the death of Catherine Cochran, 50, whose body was found in her home in the 600 block of Universal Avenue, according to the Marion police Facebook page.

Police officers found Cochran’s body at about 7:50 p.m. Friday after getting a report of a deceased person at the residence.

Rankin was taken to the Multi-County Correctional Center where he was charged with reckless homicide, according to jail records. No further details were available.
