Police investigating death of boy, 16

A 16-year-old BARBERTON — boy died early Thursday after an accidental shooting on 27th Street Northwest.

Police haven’t explained the circumstances of the shooting, nor said whether the boy shot himself or was hit by a bullet fired by someone else.

Barberton police said they were called to the scene at 6:27 a.m. The boy was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

Police issued a two-paragraph press release about the incident and said no other information will be released because of an ongoing investigation.
