Dayton Daily News - - LOCAL & STATE - By Parker Perry Staff Writer

A $250,000 bond was set for a Springfield man accused of cutting his wife’s throat and fleeing the county.

Raymond Roberts, 42, was indicted on one count of attempted murder and two counts of felonious assault in Clark County Common Pleas Court, according to court records. His bond was set during an appearance in front of Common Pleas Court Judge Douglas Rastatter.

The victim, Roberts’ wife, was stabbed in the neck Sept. 20 but was able to get in a car and drive from their home, according to deputies.

Court records show he reportedly told a family member a couple of days ago “he was buying a oneway ticket to Florida.”

The victim, who deputies said was stabbed in the neck, was able to get into a car from their home. She later crashed into Mayberry’s Mini Mart in the 4000 block of Springfield-Xenia Road about 6 a.m., according to deputies.

Roberts was on the run for two days until he led law enforcement officers on a pursuit that ended with his arrest Sept. 22. The arrest was made by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

After his arrest, Clark County prosecutors alerted the courts they planned to ask a grand jury to indict Roberts with the highest possible charge.

“The state intends to pursue charges of attempted murder and felonious assault for two separate acts during this incident,” said Clark County Assistant Prosecutor Megan Farley during Roberts’ arraignment in the Clark County Municipal Court on Sept. 24.

A next court date in the case had not been set Friday. Contact this reporter at 937328-0254 or email Parker. Perry@cox
