A simple mix of flavors added to the asparagus creates a dish with a lot taste that works very well with steamed shrimp or fish.
1 pound asparagus, rinsed and ends
trimmed 1 teaspoon of sesame oil ⅛ teaspoon salt ¼ cup orange juice freshly squeezed ½ teaspoon minced garlic 1 teaspoon grated ginger ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes ⅛ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon honey ½ cup chopped orange segments Sesame seeds 1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. 2. Place trimmed asparagus in a rimmed baking dish. Drizzle the sesame oil over the asparagus, toss to coat, and sprinkle with the salt. Place in the oven and bake for 10 minutes. 3. While the asparagus is cooking, whisk together the orange juice, garlic, ginger, red pepper flakes, salt and honey, then set aside. 4. Remove the asparagus from the oven, evenly pour the orange mixture over the asparagus, return to the oven and bake an additional 5 minutes. 5.Take the asparagus out of the oven, dust with sesame seeds, top with orange pieces and serve.
