Diesel Ban in Deutschland
A diesel vehicle ban has been approved in select cities in Germany. The Federal Administrative Court in Leipzig stated that the cities of Stuttgart and Duesseldorf have legal authority to ban older, higher-polluting diesel cars. It’s a ruling which sets a precedent that could potentially be used to enact similar bans all across Europe. After approximately 70 cities surpassed the European Union’s allowable limits for nitrogen oxides in 2017, the environmental group Deutsche Umwelthilfe (DUH) brought the case before the Federal Administrative Court.
