While many car­ri­ers are well aware of the need to trans­form the cus­tomer ex­pe­ri­ence dig­i­tally, only a few in­sur­ers are ap­ply­ing the lessons of dig­i­tal to the core in­sur­ance prod­uct. Maerz has cat­a­pulted Trav­el­ers per­sonal in­sur­ance to the fore­front by spear­head­ing the launch of Tra­verse, a new renter's in­sur­ance prod­uct that has been re­vamped from the bot­tom up. The prod­uct is in mar­ket and will pro­vide a view of where the in­sur­ance sec­tor could head go­ing for­ward. “The goal was to build a prod­uct tar­get­ing mil­len­ni­als and un­der­stand what their needs are,” Maerz ex­plains. “We wanted an ex­pe­ri­ence that was trans­par­ent and could be ser­viced en­tirely on a mo­bile de­vice.”
