INSTALLING A MOUSSE USING HAND TOOLS

WITH METZELER/PIRELLI’S DOUG SCHOPINSKY

Dirt Rider - - Dr. Dirt - STORY BY SEAN KLINGER • PHOTOS BY STEPHEN POTTER

Whether you are a seasoned pro or a novice at changing tires, installing a mousse tire insert rather than a normal tube can throw a pretty big wrench into the mix. Flying tire irons, hands covered in lube, and lots of cursing are the usual accompaniments to trying to get mousses into a tire and on a rim. But Doug Schopinsky of Metzeler/pirelli assures us that the technique you use is way more important than the diameter of your biceps.
