As all the world knows, Mindy Kaling is a true Renaissance woman—a brilliant actress, writer, and comic. Everything about her is a little outrageous, so not surprisingly, she describes her style as “more is more with patterns and color.” From the start, when domino first began brainstorming the revamping of Kaling’s offices on the Universal Studios lot, we knew the perfect interior designer for her: the great Nathan Turner. For those who aren’t already familiar with this fave, Turner has starred on Million Dollar Decorators, written a hit design book, and established a thriving West Coast practice. His rooms are always bright, original, and confident, so we were certain he was the right guy to help Kaling redefine her workspace. The star was, Turner says, “a decorator’s dream”—utterly supportive of his efforts to jazz up her subdued surroundings, and to create a sizzling and stylish area ideal for stimulating creativity or kicking back with work buddies. As soon as we saw the results of Kaling and Turner’s collaboration, we knew they’d inspire our readers as much as they did us!
