Just over a year ago, af­ter get­ting the news that their first­born was on the way, Jo­lene and Ben Kraus knew it was time to get a grown-up house to match their grow­ing fam­ily. Hav­ing also re­cently launched their own light­ing and in­te­rior de­sign com­pany, Park Stu­dio, the busy pair was thrilled to find a two-story, English cot­tage–style spread big enough to hold the soon-to-be clan of three. The next step was fill­ing the space with babyproof fur­nish­ings that wouldn’t com­pro­mise their de­sign-for­ward aes­thetic: wool rugs, lac­quered ta­bles, and even a leather-clad Eames chair. “We wanted to cre­ate a home that was com­fort­able but with a de­signer edge,” Jo­lene ex­plains. “So I made sure to dress time­less pieces with durable—and cleanable—ma­te­ri­als.”
