Woman arrested in alleged robbery of Mexican grocery store
CAMBRIDGE — A Cambridge woman has been arrested following an alleged robbery on Friday, April 1, at the Tienda Mexicana Velasquez store, 601 Race Street, police say.
Denise Maslow, 46, of 512 Academy Street was arrested in connection with the incident and charged with robbery, second-degree assault and theft of less than $1,000, police said. She is being held in the Dorchester County Detention Center on $50,000 bond, which was lowered from $125,000 in a bail review, according to police.
Cambridge Police said the store clerk reported that a woman tried to grab money from the cash register and the clerk struggled with her to get the money back.
Charging documents state that the clerk stopped struggling to retrieve the money when she noticed the woman reaching for a pocket knife.
After investigation, Maslow was identified as the alleged thief by a patron of the store who recognized her from seeing her walking in that area of town, according to charging documents.
