Cam­bridge man ar­rested for al­leged hand­gun pos­ses­sion

CAM­BRIDGE — A Cam­bridge man was ar­rested dur­ing a traf­fic stop just past mid­night on Fri­day, April 8 in the area of Park Lane and High Street, po­lice said.

De­met­rice D. Demby, 18, of Cam­bridge was ar­rested and charged with hav­ing a hand­gun on his per­son, hav­ing a hand­gun in the ve­hi­cle, pos­ses­sion of a firearm by a mi­nor, and par­tic­i­pat­ing in the straw pur­chase of a firearm. He is be­ing held in the Dorch­ester County De­ten­tion Cen­ter on $25,000, which was low­ered from an ini­tial bond of $75,000.

Ac­cord­ing to charg­ing doc­u­ments, Demby was the front seat pas­sen­ger in the ve­hi­cle, which po­lice pulled over for fail­ing to stop at a stop sign.

Upon fur­ther in­ves­ti­ga­tion of the pas­sen­gers, of­fi­cers found a .22-cal­iber re­volver in the right leg of Demby’s pants, which he stated he bought on the street in Cam­bridge for $20, ac­cord­ing to charg­ing doc­u­ments.
