Mary­land For­est Ser­vice Ar­bor Day Cel­e­bra­tion April 23

The Mary­land For­est Ser­vice, in con­junc­tion with the Dorch­ester County Forestry Board and the Spocott Wind­mill Foun­da­tion, will give away tree seedlings in honor of Ar­bor Day and Earth Day. The event will run from 10 a.m. un­til 2 p.m. on Satur­day, April 23 at the Spocott Wind­mill on Route 343 in Cornerville. Species to be given away will be loblolly pine, white pine, and a limited num­ber of oaks and other hard­wood trees, shrubs and back­yard buf­fer tree bun­dles. Trees will be given out on a first come, first served ba­sis. Those ac­cept­ing trees are urged to bring news­pa­per, pa­per towel or a plas­tic bag to hold the trees to pre­vent the roots from dry­ing out. St. Luke United Methodist Church It’s A Hat­ti­tude Af­fair April 23

Dorch­ester Cen­ter for the Arts Dis­cern­ing Palates Events April 23-24

“Sec­ond Course” events for DCA’s an­nual Dis­cern­ing Palates fundraiser will take place April 23-24. At 6:30 p.m. on Satur­day, April 23, Ad­die and Fred Bev­eridge will host “Fancy 2 at Can­ter­bury,” a meal to in­clude win­ter san­gria, melon with pro­sciutto and aged ched­dar, mixed green salad, grilled lamb chops with rice pilaf, caramelized squash and red wine. Tick­ets are $65 with only eight seats avail­able. From 2 un­til 5 p.m. on Sun­day, April 24, Alan Brock will host “A Taste of Mary­land.” The event will pair clas­sic Mary­land foods with Brock’s col­lec­tion of fine art by Mary­land artists. Izaak Wal­ton League Din­ner Meet­ing April 24

The Mid-Shore chap­ter of the Izaak Wal­ton League will hold a din­ner meet­ing at 1 p.m. on Sun­day, April 24 where Laura Thomas will speak about oys­ter aqua­cul­ture. The meet­ing will be held at Bol­ing­broke Park in Trappe. Thomas is about to com­plete her Masters De­gree in Fish­eries Sci­ence at the Univer­sity of Mary­land’s Horn Point Lab­o­ra­tory.
