CAM­BRIDGE — Freida Louise New­comb, 85, of Cam­bridge, MD, passed away peace­fully Wed­nes­day evening, April 13, 2016, at Mal­lard Bay Care Cen­ter.

Born Feb. 23, 1931 on El­liott’s Is­land, she was a daugh­ter of the late An­nie Gray and Claude Day­ton. She grad­u­ated from the lo­cal schools. In 1952, she mar­ried Robert Leroy New­comb. They were blessed with four chil­dren and en­joyed 37 years to­gether be­fore his pass­ing in 1989.

Freida was a lov­ing home­maker for most of her life. She greatly en­joyed her fam­ily and neigh­bors. Al­ways be­ing fond of an­i­mals, she loved dogs and car­ing for stray cats. Her sweet gen­tle smile will be missed by all.

Sur­viv­ing are her chil­dren: Robert Leroy New­comb Jr. and wife Grace, Wil­liam New­comb, Twila Mae New­comb and Dorothy New­comb; sis­ters Peggy Gray, Mar­ian Travers, Joan Insley and hus­band Dickie, along with a num­ber of grand­chil­dren and great-grand­chil­dren.

A view­ing was held Mon­day, April 18, at New­comb and Collins Fu­neral Home, P.A., Cam­bridge.

Grave­side ser­vices fol­lowed at Dorch­ester Me­mo­rial Park, Cam­bridge. Of­fi­ci­at­ing was Pas­tor Joe Kelly.

Serv­ing as pall­bear­ers were fam­ily mem­bers.
