Toast to the Nanticoke to be held May 13
VIENNA — The Nanticoke Watershed Alliance is hosting a Toast to the Nanticoke at Layton’s Chance Winery from 6:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, May 13. This year’s event focuses on “Growing Up Nanticoke,” and author Tom Horton will share his experiences growing up on the Marshyhope Creek, a major tributary of the Nanticoke River.
Tickets cost $50 and include live music, heavy hors d’oeuvres, an open wine bar, river information and winer y tours. Ticket sales support the NWA’s programs and initiatives to conser ve the Nanticoke River watershed. Founded in 1992, a bistate coalition established the NWA committed to protecting the natural, cultural, and recreational resources of the Nanticoke River watershed. The NWA’s flagship program is an EPAapproved citizen-science volunteer water monitoring program, the Nanticoke Creekwatchers, which has been awarded two Delaware Governor’s Awards and one Maryland Governor’s Award.
