MADI­SON — Ot­tie Wash­ing­ton Mills Jr., 92, of Madi­son, MD, passed away on Mon­day, April 25, 2016 at his home. He was born in Madi­son on Nov. 30, 1923 and was a son of the late Ot­tie Wash­ing­ton Mills Sr. and Nora Leti­tia Green Mills.

He at­tended schools in Madi­son. Mr. Mills served in the U.S. Army dur­ing World War II and was dis­charged at the rank of Sergeant and re­ceived the Pur­ple Heart. On Aug. 18, 1945, he mar­ried the for­mer Gla­dys Hol­l­i­day. He worked at Cam­bridge Wire Cloth with 45 years of ser­vice. Mr. Mills en­joyed gar­den­ing, and wood­work­ing. He was a mem­ber of the Amer­i­can Le­gion Post 91 and the Chop­tank Memo­rial Post 7460 VFW.

He is sur­vived by his wife Gla­dys Mills of Madi­son, his chil­dren Sharie Dean of Cam­bridge, Daniel Mills and wife Linthia of Madi­son, Kevin Mills and com­pan­ion Terry Adams of East New Mar­ket, and Christie Mills of Del­mar, DE, grand­chil­dren James Dean, Brian Dean, John Dean, Tam­mie Wil­lis, Jeff Mills Jr. and Kara Mills Jones, sev­eral great grand­chil­dren, nieces and neph­ews. Be­sides his par­ents, Mr. Mills is pre­ceded in death by a son Jef­frey Mills, a grand­son Wil­liam Mills, a brother Wil­liam “Har­vey” Mills and a sis­ter Hazel L. Mills Cheesman.

A fu­neral ser­vice was held Mon­day, May 2, at the Mary­land East­ern Shore Vet­er­ans Ceme­tery with Rev. David Wooten of­fi­ci­at­ing.

Ar­range­ments are in the care of the Thomas Fu­neral Home, P.A. in Cam­bridge.
