West End Cit­i­zens As­so­ci­a­tion hosts Satur­day “One Hour Walk­ing Tour of His­toric High Street” in Cam­bridge. Tours will con­tinue each Satur­day (weather per­mit­ting) through Satur­day, Oct. 29. Meet your Colo­nial cos­tumed tour guide at 11 a.m. on Long Wharf at the foot of High Street ev­ery Satur­day. Reser­va­tions are not nec­es­sar y, but ap­pre­ci­ated. High Street is the old­est street in the City of Cam­bridge first named in 1706.

Sal­va­tion Army Adult Bible Class Sun­days

The Sal­va­tion Army, 200 Wash­ing­ton Street, would like to in­vite the pub­lic to par­tic­i­pate in the Adult Bible Class held each Sun­day morn­ing at 9:45 a.m. Classes in­volve singing hymns, prayer and a Bible les­son, of­ten with guest speak­ers and spe­cial mu­sic. Cof­fee and pas­tries are of­fered. Chil­dren’s classes are also avail­able, and a wor­ship ser­vice fol­lows at 11 a.m.

Fun Dog Show May 14

Christ Epis­co­pal Church Fun Dog Show will be held 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Gov­er­nors Hall at Sail­winds Park. Reg­is­tra­tion for a va­ri­ety of show classes starts at 9 a.m. The dogs must be at least 6 months old and on a leash in or­der to com­pete, no pedi­grees re­quired. There are many fun cat­e­gories to choose from in­clud­ing Best Small Dog, Best Big­gest Dog, Best Cos­tume, Best Tricks, Best Heinz 57 (from a shel­ter). The first cat­e­gory en­try is $5 and additional cat­e­gories, $4 each. A por­tion of the pro­ceeds from the event will ben­e­fit the Hu­mane So­ci­ety. El­liott Is­land United Methodist Church Perch and Chicken Din­ner May 14

El­liott Is­land UMC, 2310 El­liott Is­land Road, will host a perch and chicken din­ner from 12 to 3 p.m. on Satur­day, May 14. Din­ner will be buf­fet style and the menu is to in­clude: fried perch, fried chicken, mac and cheese, green beans, kale, stewed toma­toes, candied yams and as­sorted desserts. His­tor­i­cal So­ci­ety Class May 14

The Her­itage Craft Stu­dio/Refin­ish­ing Fur­ni­ture class will be at the Her­itage Mu­se­ums and Gar­dens of Dorch­ester from 10 a.m. to noon Satur­day, May 14. This is Week 1 of a multi-week course led by Frank Bit­tner. Bring a piece of your own to re­fin­ish. The num­ber of classes is de­pen­dent on your piece. You may do part in class and part at home. The class will set the fol­low­ing work­shop dates at the first meet­ing. Cost for DCHS mem­bers is $5/stu­dio ses­sion plus the cost of sup­plies and ma­te­ri­als, non­mem­bers-$10/stu­dio ses­sion plus sup­plies and ma­te­ri­als.
