CHURCH CREEK — He­len M. Rizzo, 81, of Church Creek, MD, died on Satur­day, May 7, 2016, at her home, with her lov­ing hus­band Sal­va­tor “Sam” and their two sons at her side.

Born on March 7, 1935 in Pitts­burgh, PA, she was a daugh­ter of the late Mary and Ni­cola Vento. She at­tended the lo­cal schools in Pitts­burgh and grad­u­ated from Ge­orge West­ing­house High School with the class of 1953.

On July 1, 1961, He­len mar­ried Sal­va­tor J. Rizzo and to­gether raised two sons. Af­ter mov­ing from Columbia, MD in 1986, they made their home in Church Creek. He­len and Sam re­cently cel­e­brated their 54th Wed­ding An­niver­sar y.

He­len was a ded­i­cated mem­ber of St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church and the Church Creek Vol­un­teer Fire Com­pany.

She was known for help­ing peo­ple in need and sup­port­ing her lo­cal com­mu­nity. Fam­ily was most important to her and she loved talk­ing about her grand­chil­dren. When it came to re­lax­ing, He­len could be found feed­ing the ducks and en­joy­ing the na­ture of our earth.

She will truly be missed by all who knew her.

Sur­viv­ing He­len is her hus­band Sam; two sons Paul A. Rizzo and wife Jana of Columbia, MD, Robert N. Rizzo and wife Bianca of Vir­ginia Beach, VA; grand­chil­dren Jes­sica, Emily, Spencer and Sam Rizzo; a sis­ter Teresa Vento; a brother Nick Vento and wife Pat of Pitts­burgh.

A Mass of Chris­tian Burial was held on Wed­nes­day, May 11, at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Golden Hill, MD, with Cel­e­brant Wil­liam Lawler of­fi­ci­at­ing. Burial was in the church ceme­tery. Fam­ily re­ceived friends from 10:30 to 12 Noon.

Serv­ing as pall­bear­ers were He­len’s fam­ily.
