Dorch­ester Gar­den Club to host flower show

CAM­BRIDGE — The Dorch­ester Gar­den Club will host “The Pot­ting Shed,” a stan­dard flower show, from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wed­nes­day, May 25, at Im­manuel United Church of Christ, 5401 White Hall Road in Cam­bridge.

The theme was cre­ated by the show chair­man and long-time Dorch­ester Gar­den Club mem­ber Faye Phillips, and the orig­i­nal artwork fea­tured on the flower show sched­ule is by lo­cal artist Willa Klin­gen­smith.

Awards will be pre­sented for flo­ral de­signs, hor­ti­cul­ture and spe­cial ex­hibits. Hor­ti­cul­ture dis­plays will in­clude con­tainer plants, flow­er­ing peren­ni­als, flow­er­ing an­nu­als, herbs and com­bi­na­tion plant­ings en­tered by Dorch­ester Gar­den Club mem­bers. The De­sign Divi­sion will fea­ture flo­ral de­signs cre­ated by club mem­bers, in­clud­ing minia­ture, small, small stretch, re­flec­tive, multi-rhyth­mic and ta­ble set­tings de­signs. The Spe­cial Ex­hibits Divi­sion will in­clude “Cel­e­brat­ing 85 years of flow­ers, friends and Com­mu­nity Ser­vice” in recog­ni­tion of the Dorch­ester Gar­den Club’s 85th an­niver­sary of its found­ing in 1930.

The Dorch­ester Gar­den Club con­ducts stan­dard flower shows ever y two years in ac­cor­dance with stan­dards es­tab­lished by Na­tional Gar­den Clubs Inc.

The show is open to the pub­lic and ad­mis­sion is free.
